From start to finish

Here, it really just started off as trying to get the circle to rotate towards the mouse, using the angled piece as a pointer.

Introduced a rope using hingejoint2d's. I used Brackeys' "Cut the Rope" as a reference.

The previous two images actually comprised of a huge portion of the development time. Having little experience with the Unity engine, I took it slow and made sure I wasn't blindly following tutorials. There was also a time where I had to take a break to dabble in some machine learning (Unity ML agents) for an upcoming hackathon at the time.

A little bit satisfied with how movement felt, I decided to add a line renderer for the rope and turn it into a tentacle. Also added colors for the shapes and platforms.

A fail condition was also added in the form of these red spikes.

Created a simple sprite for the character and the tentacle. Haven't had a clear idea of what I wanted for the project up until I decided that it would be this blob.

Created a second fail condition. The red flying eyeball. Also added the yellow collectible and the purple post as a goal to reach.

Instead of just a testing playground for Unity, I decided to turn it into a small game. Recolored the outlines, added more sprites. Learned how to create a scrolling background with a bit of parallax.

Added mountains to not make background as empty. Decided that the hook will be inside the blob and not sticking out.

For a final touch, made the goal follow the style of the other sprites and made it pulse to make it more attractive.
